July 28th, 2021 Meeting
Our main July meeting was our annual Show and Shine fun concours competition, returning after missing 2020. The event was again held at the Langton Arms at Tarrant Monkton, a beautiful old Dorset thatched pub in an idyllic village setting. The pub has the benefit of a large field where we can display our cars. Earlier in the day, the weather was a concern with frequent showers and brisk winds but we were fortunate in that this cleared and we enjoyed a dry and sunny evening !
This year’s event was sponsored by Autolusso Bournemouth to whom we offer a big thank you.
Ultimately, a total of 24 Alfa Romeos were displayed together with an interloper in the form of a pretty little Fiat Barchetta. We also welcomed a number of individuals who have joined the club recently or were visiting us including John Chaloner, Chris Hardyman, Nigel Roberts and David Soan and we should give a special mention to Peter Guarino who came over from Jersey for the event !
The Show and Shine competition was judged by Laurence Preston of Autolusso and, after some careful consideration, the following winners were announced for the best presented car in each of six age groups. Each winner received a certificate and a bottle of Prosecco.
1960s Chris Hardyman Giulia Ti
1970s Gareth Firth GT Junior
1980s Graeme Jones Alfetta GT
1990s Ian Brookfield 155
2000s Steve Bockett GT
Modern Stephen and Ruth Paddock Giulietta
Many congratulations to the winners !
It was an enjoyable evening and, with the lifting of restrictions, great to be able to hold a full meeting at a pub again !
