The authentic and ambitious collaboration brings together two Italian icons united by a shared vision: constant innovation, excellence in sport and always pushing their limits.
This partnership brings to life an ambitious journey, along which Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa will face an unprecedented challenge together: the America’s Cup, the most prestigious sailing trophy in the world. Watch the announcement below…
As Official Sponsor, Alfa Romeo enthusiastically embraces this new adventure, united by the same philosophy that drives the Luna Rossa team: competitive determination combines with cutting edge technological innovation. To achieve their most ambitious goals and deliver the best performance, Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa rely on expertise, design, the use of some of the most advanced materials in the world and the very best engineering techniques.
The official announcement of the new partnership was made today in a video, featuring Santo Ficili, Alfa Romeo CEO; Cristiano Fiorio, Head of Marketing, Communication and Strategic Projects for Alfa Romeo; and Max Sirena, Team Director of Luna Rossa. Together, these leading figures give voice to a story that celebrates 115 years of Alfa Romeo and the courage to take on new challenges, with the spirit of those who do not limit themselves to nostalgic memories but relaunch it aiming at the future.
Through evocative images and an emotional tone, the video illustrates the meeting of two brands from different worlds but are united by the same energy and the same values of audacity, performance, elegance and the Italian spirit. The video begins with the announcement of the Luna Rossa team aboard the 1956 Alfa Romeo 1900 Super Sprint as the official crew for the Mille Miglia – ‘the most beautiful race in the world,’ due to start from Brescia on 17 June. Max Sirena draws a powerful parallel between driving on the road and crewing a racing boat: only the surface changes, the asphalt instead of the sea, but the thrill, instinct and adrenaline remain the same.
These images are not only symbolic but anticipate the substance of the collaboration between Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa: a concrete technical synergy, bringing together two outstanding Italian organisations with a shared vision of performance and innovation. A collaboration that goes well beyond visibility or communication, translating into a genuine exchange of skills, with both teams engaged in the joint development of high-tech solutions. At the heart of this journey is the sharing of know-how in key areas such as the use of advanced materials, performance management and data analysis, areas in which both teams have extensive experience.
Santo Ficili, Alfa Romeo CEO, stated: “There can be no better partner than Luna Rossa, a brand that – like us – brings with it a strong identity, a wealth of history and a clear vision of what is to come, a passion for sport, a drive for excellence, a deep sense of belonging and above all…It speaks Italian. Just like Alfa Romeo.”
Cristiano Fiorio, Global Head of Marketing, Communications and Strategic Projects, said: “This partnership could not have come at a better time, or in a better place. Ours is a symbiotic alliance, which goes far beyond the union of two brands or the affixing of logos on a sail or a badge on a car. We share values and heritage, and that can take us anywhere. Because when racing experience meets engineering vision, something extremely innovative comes to be. Not only in terms of colours or stylistic features but as part of a true technological collaboration.”
Max Sirena, Team Director of Luna Rossa, concluded: “There is a natural affinity between Luna Rossa and Alfa Romeo: deep-seated roots, Italian tradition, sporting spirit and the constant pursuit of excellence. We even share our distinctive color: red. Our partnership is rooted in shared values, and its value is constantly growing.”
