May 2024 Meeting
On May 1st, we held an early evening convoy drive around the New Forest followed by dinner at a pub. Similar to last year, this was planned, organised and led by John and Judith Parr. Unfortunately, the weather decided not to cooperate this year with constant rain throughout the evening. Despite this, a group of nine Alfas (and a Ford Cougar !) gathered in the car park at Burley before setting off on a twenty three mile drive across the Forest. Passing through Emery Down, Bolderwood, Stoney Cross and Godshill, we eventually arrived at the Horse and Groom at Woodgreen. Despite (or perhaps because of) the rain, the Forest looked green and lush and the roads were quiet. With one brief exception near Stoney Cross, we managed to keep all ten cars together in a single uninterrupted convoy. Well done to Rod and Sue Grainger and Peter Godwin who, despite the weather, had brought their classic Alfas along.
A very convivial dinner was held at the Horse & Groom where we had pretty much exclusive use of their heated garden room and we were joined here by Bryan Rupping and Alison in their 156 who had not done the convoy run.
Many thanks to John and Judith for planning and organising the evening.
