GTV Spider (Type 916) 1995 - 2004

The Spider was first registered in October 1998, and according to the service book the PDI was carried out on 23 October 1998 and supplied new by Sidlow Alfa Romeo, Reigate Road in Horley. It was serviced there annually until September 2001 by which time it appears to have been on sale as an Approved Used Alfa Romeo. July 2002 finds the car in Guernsey being serviced by a garage called Jacksons (CI) Ltd and the following year it is still on Guernsey being serviced by Rohais Motor Centre.

June 2004 finds the car back on the mainland being sold to the owner who then kept the car, along with meticulous documentation right through to 2017 when I bought it. He bought it from Ride and Drive (Surrey) Ltd for £8775 with 31,600 on the clock.   It enjoyed a less busy life after that being driven only a few hundred miles a year and being kept in generally excellent condition. 

In early summer 2017 I saw it advertised in Auto Italia with 44K on the clock and made contact with the seller, unfortunately there was a communication fumble, my fault, while at work and a dealer came and bought the car for cash before I could arrange to see it. 

Nevertheless, it appeared on Auto Trader a couple of weeks later, for more money obviously.., and after some prevarication I decided to buy it anyway after negotiating it down a bit.  Apparently the car had changed hands between dealers in the interim so it had a busy couple of weeks!  

The previous owner had looked after the car very well, kept all the documentation, which I've continued but obviously by the time I got the car it was 19 years old and a lot of the engine/gearbox seals went quite quickly as I was using it more often and it took a while to get these sorted out.  

I used various garages to get bits and pices done locally to me in Colchester for the first couple of years but they, even the local Alfa dealer, struggled a bit so in 2019 I booked it into Avanti Autos in Ipswich who have been brilliant at helping me keep this lovely little car on the road and in great condition.
