Overview
Complete restoration project of a modified 1970 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super RHD (not imported).
The car was purchased back in 2015, where the previous owner modified the car for racing, including a complete engine swap (2.0 litre Alfa Romeo 75 twin spark 1989 model), lowered & uprated suspension, limited-slip differential and uprated brakes and pads.
The car was put into restoration midway through 2021 at The Old Coachworks where it was taken back to bare metal with repairs to the bodywork completed. This included repairs to the front & rear wings, arches, bonnet, front chassis, doors and boot frames as well as new floor pans & door skins. The shell was then prepped and painted in the original gloss white, with wax oil and underseal applied. Dynamat soundproofing was layed throughout before work on the interior began. A good amount of work has been focused towards the interior, with new seat covers, headliner and complete black Wilton carpet installed throughout the floor.
A significant amount of mechanical and electrical work has been completed. The engine has been completely rebuilt (see "Engine & Cooling" section for details), with a clean bare metal and red finish to the engine bay, complimented by Alfaholics' aluminium radiator kit. The differential and transmission have been overhauled, with new shock absorbers and brakes installed. Further works include a new wiring loom, red HT leads and a cooling fan. Alfaholics' stainless steel twin spark exhaust system has been installed to complete the quality of mechanical work done to the car. To finish off the car, the door handles have been chromed and all stainless steel polished, giving the car a stunning finish.
The engine rebuild and car reassembly was completed by Peter Smart Classic Alfa, bringing an end to this restoration project early 2025.
Special thanks go to Mr Charles Chee whose involvement has been crucial throughout this restoration project. Not only has he ensured that the work carried out on the mechanics, electrics and cosmetics was to a high level, but he completely rebuilt the gearbox and overhauled the brakes. It's safe to say this car wouldn't have been restored to the calibre it is without his keen eye for detail and extensive knowledge of not only Alfa Romeo's but cars as a whole. His guidance has been invaluable and I along with my sons are forever grateful.
