Introduction
Alfa Romeo sits alongside Ferrari, Bentley, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Maserati, as a manufacturer of some of the most beautiful motor cars in the world, designed by some of the greatest ever designers, with a racing heritage second to none.
My quest was to buy an affordable, stunning, open top sports car, designed by one of the worlds greatest, but one I could live with on a daily basis. A car that with a bit of love and attention I could transform into a car, where not only I thought "wow", but so did nearly everyone else! I came to the conclusion there was only one car out there that would fit the bill.......
An Alfa Romeo 916 2.0 Twin Spark Spider. No, not the wonderful Busso engine version, with the howling V6, but the lighter 2.0 twin spark that would go round corners on rails and that could be driven "like it had been stolen". My mind was made up, but where would I find the perfect car? Like so many "every day" sportscars, many were driven hard, uncared for, left to rot in damp garages and were unloved.
I'm a classic car detailer and spend my life working on beautiful old cars. I turn "nice" cars into cars that make their owners proud, cars that have that "wow" factor. One such car came into the workshop, an Alfa Romeo 147 GTA. A new client that wanted the magic dust sprinkled on the car to make it one of the best. 7-10 days later the GTA looked, even though I say so myself, magnificent and was ready for collection. Rob Broadhurst, the client, had previously mentioned he also had a few other cars tucked away and he said right out of the blue....... ""I've a Twin Spark Spider I've just rebuilt that needs a final finish, would you have a look at it?" A week later P2 NFA came in and I just had to have it. This was the one I'd been searching for! A empty wallet later and she was mine. I was now the proud owner of the newly restored P2 (Nuvolari, Ferrari, Ascari), Alfa Romeo 916 2.0 Twin Spark Spider.
That was just the start of the journey!
