Genuine 1977 RHD Series 1 Alfasud ti in Posillipo Blu, purchased in 2022.
At the time the auctioneers estimated the car would achieve £13-18k such is its rarity, orginality and corrosion free condition.
Odometer is in KM and shows 44, 600 so I presume 144, 600 (90, 000 miles).
Originally purchased new in Australia on 21 July 1977 (manufactured 28 June 1977).
Certification from Alfa Romeo confirm the above and the car was produced as a 1. 2ti in Posillipo Blu with Panno grigio trim.
In long term original ownership in Melbourne and used sparingly, always garaged this Sud passed to an Alfa garage owner/enthusiast for 10 years prior to it being imported and registered in the U. K. in 2020.
This car is solid having spent its life in the Australian sunshine. Reportedly always properly maintained, latterly the Alfa dealer swapped out the original 1186cc single carb unit for an Alfa 33 1. 7 8v twin carb unit and later 1.5 litre 5 speed box (car retains the inboard brakes), just prior to export. All import duties were paid.
The 1. 7 8v engine provides circa an additonal 50bhp, so this car is pretty lively.
The car ended up being re sprayed in the U. K. by Alex Jupe motorsport as panel damage was caused during shipping. During the repairs some light corrosion was found below the rear quarter windows and boot lid hinges., all now properly repaired. There is no corrosion on the chassis, none. Mechanically this sud is sound, engine gearbox clutch and brakes all function as they should and the car is a joy to drive, settling down, once warm, to the expected refinement of a Sud. The suspension has been poly bushed, all 4 brake discs show no wear. The centre 3 gauges include a genuine functioning Alfasud clock, rather than the original spec blanking plate. A modern CD is fitted and the electric aerial still functions! Over the last 2 years the rear brakes have been overhauled, a new heater matrix fitted, speedo cable, new genuine door pull handles and a new front bumper mounted indicator lamp and 4 new old stock headlamps. The Goodyear tyres are like new with no uneven wear. The car sits on original genuine refurbished steel rims as a Ti should of this era. Due to wear, the seat fabric has just been replaced (May 24) by a specialist using, very hard to source reproduction fabric in the exact pattern and shade of the original, at the same time the front seat foam was replaced/ repaired as necessary. The car was MOTd at 40, 000km in 2020, but not since as it is exempt. It is registered as a historic vehicle, therefore the road tax is zero.
Other minor mechanical work was completed in 2021, the cam belt etc was done at the time of the engine swap.
There is stamped service book to 116, 000km.
