159 (939) 2005 - 2011

I've recently sold a custom built track spec Honda Civic which I just don't have the time to race any more, so I was looking for a new toy.

Many years ago I had a Giulietta Quadrifoglio and my wife and I really missed it so it got me looking at Alfas again however this time I wanted something a little more sophisticated. 

Initially I looked at a lot of Breras but soon realised that I was just too tall to fit comfortably in the drivers seat which was a real shame. I'd not really considered the 159 at first but eventually looked at a few and realised I really quite liked them. The ride was much more engaging than I'd expected and despite the weight they felt relatively nimble.

I found this car at a local dealer in Winchester who'd had it stored for the last 5 years and after they fixed some issues we agreed on a price and I took it away. Its a 2007 3.2 JTS Q4 TI. 

I bought the car knowing it had a lot of cosmetic and superficial problems but fundamentally it seemed pretty sound and the full leather TI interior is in almost mint condition. As I am writing this 2 months later it still seems to be in very good shape!

The plan is to restore it back to a respectfully standard condition with some minor performance upgrades to the suspension and brakes.

First up is a full service as its still running with all the fluids it was stored with. After that the exhaust desperately needs replacing! 

First job since aquiring the car is to get underneath and tidy up those sub frames. A lot of surface rust going on down there. Luckily it all looks superficial but its right on the verge of getting serious. The front frame is in pretty good condition, but the rear is definitely showing its age!

Going to spend the bank holiday weekend rolling around on my back in the drive way cleaning and sealing it all.

Its just had a full service and is running lovely and smooth. Also booked in for a custom exhaust in a fortnight.
