The Purchase
I purchased this Alfa 159 in early March, 2020. The garage wanted a quick cash sale what with the looming covid pandemic threatening to close businesess so a deal was done and I drove her away. I immediately changed the cam belt and replaced the front discs and brake pads. Other than that, she became the daily drive along the deserted motorways as I went about the day job. After the first 'stay home' as the West of England opened back up, it was time to look at the work to get her looking nice. She had lots of stonechip damage, peeling laquer and a scruffy looking front bumper. But that's another story. Meantime, she ran to Dover, the North and around the West delivering trouble-free miles and excellent fuel economy. She earned the name 'Aurora' after the Roman Goddess of dawn.
Becoming a Member of the AROC
2021 was the year I joined the AROC when I took Aurora along to the helicopter museum in Weston Super Mare.
Let the Restoration Commence
In the spring of 2024 it was time to refresh Aurora's makeup. A trip to Quantock Classics in Bridgwater saw the complete strip back and respray of the bonnet and bumper, wings and doors done too (a dent recently appeared whilst parked in a car park so that had to go). A thorough job was done with new primer, top coat and three coats of lacquer. A new chrome-look grill was added to add that finishing touch.
