My Alfa History
I was initially introduced to the Alfa Romeo brand with my dads 156 1.9 Veloce Sportwagon which I instantly fell in love with. I knew from that point I was destinies to drive Alfa Romeo's. When I began my search for a first car in 2021 I was looking for as close a spec as possible to the car that brought me into the Alfa world. I came across this car which is a 2004 2.4 20v TI sportwagon in the Charcoal Black metallic with black leather and red contrast stitch.
Sadly when I was initially in contact with the owner I decided it was maybe not the best idea to go straight to a 2.4 litre diesel as my first car and ended up with a 2010 GT Cllverleaf 1.9. When scrolling marketplace (as you do) I came across the same car listed with a smashed sump and short MOT, I was unsure at first with the smashed sump what other damage might be lurking but the owner got the sump done and wasn't sure about keeping it or not due to it being not ULEZ exempt. So I did what you're not supposed to do and bought it sight unseen and got it shipped up from Leeds to my home town of Drumnadrochit, designating the start of a long slog to get all the little bits and pieces sorted to get her through an MOT. Not realising that I would be out of action for almost 6 weeks filling an accident with my GT.
The Details
This particular car is a 2004 156 TI Sportwagon with the 2.4JTD lump shoe horned under the bonnet. I have been led to believe that there aren't many TI Sportwagons left on the road and fewer with the 2.4. Its has a massive folder of service history and receipts for thousands of pounds worth of work to keep her going. She is lowered on Eibach springs and has been fitted in my ownership with new front wishbones, arb bushes and drop links, along with driveshafts, drivers side wheel bearing, thermostat, coolant bottle, and a wiper motor and a centre decat which came with the car and an EGR delete.
