Buying a S4 Spider 30 years after my first one cloverleaf

In 1992 I owned a gorgeous yellow S4 Spider with black interior. It had 7,000 km on the clock and was LHD, the car that Alfa UK had themselves used for their Motorshow stands.  Shorly after, late in 1993 I was moved overseas on a "one year contract".  The car went into temporary storage.  Little did I know that I would never see it again and sadly there is no trace now on DVLA records of that car (J58 NLL).

20 years + later I returned to the UK and was set on finding another Yellow/Black S4 Spider with good provenance and clean history.  They just don't come up for sale very often and when they do the condition and maintenance can be variable.

So, when I saw H180 JLE become available and I studied its history and saw its condition, I decided that Red/Tan was not a bad second choice. I purchased this car in June 2022.

History and Maintenance cloverleaf

The car was first registered in Padua, Italy in 1991 and was for a short period owned by the De Lannoy family (Belgian royalty) in Rome before it was imported to the UK (first UK registration Oct 2001). I acquired the vehicle in June 2022.

The car has not been converted to RHD; Alfa enthusiasts will know that some conversions (mostly done by Bell & Colvill or SeaKing) had their issues.

The vehicle has an extensive history file and has been well maintained and upgraded during its life. It had a repaint in 2010, a new hood in 2013, and benefits from an Alfaholics fast-road suspension upgrade. The odometer remains in Km and shows ~ 118,600 equating to approx. 73,600 miles. The car presents as I purchased it.  During the 22/23 winter months it underwent some minor improvements (small bodywork marks/dents, interior cleaned etc) and received a service and clean MOT.

Interior cloverleaf

This is in good to excellent condition with a Nardi steering wheel.  The car was stripped down by the previous owner who took it to Italy on more than one occasion. They decided to put some dynomat insulation on the vehicle for those trips over the mountains.

The mohair hood is in a like new / execllent condition and there is an original hardtop for the car as well in good condition.
