History
1750 GTV ‘Roary’ joined the Spider 2000 back in 2008, again another full restoration project taking 4 years. I had taken up track days in the Spider in 2005 and realised I needed a GTV for this and Sprint/hill climb events.
I swapped the stock 1750 engine for a later twin spark which has upped the power to 150 bhp. Other upgrades include a 4.3 lsd, uprated clutch, race/track suspension, 6 pot calipers up front, roll cage and race seats and belts.
Past history
The GTV had been subject to a colour change to resale red at some stage, here is a photo from the 1980s. Her owner was most keen to provide some background info, he really enjoyed the car and still has Alfas.
The interim history is sketchy but I took her on in 2008 as a restoration project, a door was missing along with any decent floor pans or boot floor. The car was shot blasted and stripped of paint and the restoration began in earnest.
The original plan was to have a stripped out track car, but when she came back from the paint shop in her gorgeous original AR 727 Grigio Medio plans changed. She is now a GT car but with attitude! The bumpers remain as she is a super rare Italian built RHD Mk1 1750 and I still keep the batwing seats for road driving.
Horsepower
The Twin Spark engine has been rebuilt to standard specification for now, I have a second engine for uprating although I have to admit the standard set up is plenty fast enough!
It currently sports an Alfaholics supplied Omex ecu with individual throttle bodies, new loom, wasted coil packs, separate oil cooler and uprated aluminium radiator to help the overheating problem.
