History
I purchased our 1971 Spider back in 1988, she was in a very sorry state and took 4 years to weld up and put her back together.
Maintenance is on going, I have replaced all the suspension rubbers again and she now sports a rebuilt engine, gearbox and lsd in the last 5 years.
Trips abroad
The Spider is a really comfortable touring car, we try and get to Europe as often as we can.
trips include:
Italy - Rome, Perugia, Todi ( main picture), Milan, Lake Como, Barolo, Portofino
France - Giverny, Paris, Eygalieres, Nice, Monaco ( classic Grand Prix), Dijon, Jura
Switzerland - Gstaad
Holland- Breskens
Before and after
This was quite a journey! I'd had two left hand drive Spiders before this one appeared all forlorn in a London Garage. Someone had hacked around and stripped the paint off, then gave up with it (see top photo). The car was straight although very rusty, what was good was that the suspension location points were all solid. Turns out that she is a very early Alfa Spider 2000, number 39, built in late 1971, first registered January 1972.
The photo below was taken outside the Hotel Du Lac in Bellagio in about 2003, this photo won us a VIP trip to Goodwood to celebrate 100 years of Alfa Romeo in 2011, now that was something special, thank you Alfa GB!
