History
Y193HUM, a 3.0 V6 24V 916 Spider in Verde Coventry, was registered to its first owner on 30.05.01 by Piccadilly Motors, Knaresborough, N Yorkshire.
At some point, early in its life, the first owner took 'HUM' out to France where it was reregistered on French plates and resided at the owner's holiday home near Poitiers.
Fast forward to 2016 and HUM, with a declared mileage of 48k and still on French plates, appeared at a UK auction following the death of the first owner.
The subsequent purchase at auction by the second owner, was the subject of an article 'Daily Driver' in the August 2016 edition of Practical Classics. - See section image above.
The Practical Classics article was read avidly by a subscriber who was smitten and decided that had to have this Spider! Through the magazine he made contact with the second owner to see if he would sell. Successful in this endeavour, he became HUM's third owner on 15.08.16.
I became HUM's fourth owner on 14.11.21 having seen the car advertised on Ebay with a recorded mileage of 51544. HUM'S third owner was undoubtedly a true alfista who had lavished much care and attention on the car during his ownership and was only selling because a 2 seat 'fun car' wasn't proving too practical for trips out with the family!
In the time that I've had HUM I've tried to get details of its French service history (CT checks etc) but, frustratingly, French data protection has proved impenetrable.
HUM replaced a phase 1 2.0 twinnie 916 Spider which I had previously thought would be a keeper. The lure of the V6 Busso proved irresistible however...
