History
Manufactured in 1972, original colour Ivory
Originally supplied by Alfa Romeo UK to a customer in the Channel Islands
Re-imported into UK in 1978 and first registered in UK on 24 August 1978
No known history in UK until Robin Simpson acquired the vehicle on 7 June 1991, died in 2004. Rosalind Simpson acquired the vehicle on 1 December 2004, then John Simpson acquired the vehicle on 4 December 2011 (Amanda?) Martin Tinsley acquired the vehicle on 26 March 2020. I acquired the car in February 2022
Modifications
45 DHLA Dellorto carburettors, Colombo & Bariani CB48 camshafts, 123 programmable electronic ignition, Alfaholics stainless steel tubular manifold and exhaust system.
Classic Alfa 'fast road' suspension upgrade with stiffer springs, upgraded shock absorbers and front anti-roll bar.
Starter motor replaced with a Powerlite high torque lightweight unit and the mechanical fuel pump replaced with a Facet silver top electric fuel pump and FilterKing.
Renovation and condition
Exterior: A perfect paint finish with no chips or blemishes. The outer sills were replaced in 2021; no other repairs identified or necessary when resprayed in Alfa silver metallic (AR737) in 2023 (the original colour was ivory). The underside of the car still has much of the factory finish and no corrosion.
Interior: Original interior in black vinyl with rubber mats (new mat in boot); period radio retained but not fitted. New (fixed) lap and diagonal safety belts. Hood and folding frame mechanism are both in good condition with separate rear cover.
Mechanical: Engine and gearbox: Matching number 2 litre Nord twin cam engine. Gearbox rebuilt with new bearings, seals and synchro hubs. New prop shaft joints and bearings. New radiator and coolant hoses.
New battery with isolator switch. New halogen headlamp units.
New front and rear brake discs, pads and flexible pipes, properly working servos.
Original steel wheels refurbished and fitted with new Goodyear 185/65R14 tyres (including spare).
