The early history cloverleaf

Chassis no.      was built     and shipped to the Alfa dealer    in Malaysia. This was a Rh drive country at the time so the car is an original Rh drive one. In     it was sold into Singapore. Aircon was fitted, an extremely necessary addition, and as a result the battery was re-sited to the boot, where it remains to this day.

Into the UK and then Ireland cloverleaf

A relative of the owner in Singapore brought the car into UK in

It appears to have been used pretty much as any car that was an early stage classic, ie sparingly and with no major work done. Mileage went up to

The previous owner to myself bought the car and imported it into cork in Ireland and embarked on a major bare shell restoration in 2011.

Just about everything was renewed, renovated or upgraded, in the latter category was, specifically, the engine. Being a great engineer most of the mechanical work was done in house but, even then around 30000 euros was spent, at the time quite a significant value.

The interior was expensively retrimmed in tan leather with Alfa 156 front seats etc.

The engine is without doubt one of the finest I have ever experienced. It runs incredibly smoothly on hc pistons, special cams, 45 Dellortos etc. It pulls like a train and when dyno'd produced 162bhp at 7850rpm. Amazing, and it is the original Nord motor.

My ownership cloverleaf

I had been looking for a good but upgraded Bertone coupé for about a year when in 2015 I saw a car advertised but it was in Ireland. Ok I could fly to Cork easily so went to see the car. It wasn't for me but the owner had a number of lovely Alfas including a red Bertone that had had a lot of work done on it. So I ended up buying this one even though it wasn't actually up for sale!

I brought it back into the UK on, yes really, 1st April 2015 and have owned it ever since.

It's an absolutely great fun car to drive and stunning to look at. It really can be a lovely red hooligan if you want it, or just a torquey tourer another time. One of the best of many cars, not just Alfas, that I've ever owned.
