Early history
The car was built and according to the Classic he certificate shipped to a dealer in Northern Italy. That would be as the original supplier sticker is still on the rear window, ie
More recent history
I have some paperwork showing the car was in Holland around and was in fact imported from there to UK by the previous owner in
It was registered BBK 338M on
Then began the transformation of the car by Alfaholics to what it is today. In effect reborn as of 2010/11.
Alfaholics and the car
The previous UK owner decided he wanted to make this Montreal a very special one, starting with what was ,let's say, a very average car that he had imported.
The car was stripped down to a bare shell and pretty much everything was taken out, repaired, replaced and/or upgraded as required. Apart from a full repaint, the engine was rebuilt to a higher spec at 2800cc with modern fuel injection replacing the SPICA unit. Power steering with a ZF box, modern aircon, new electrics, a complete retrim in top leather and alcantara, etc etc. In fact the best explanation is that of the car still featured on the Alfaholics website:
One of the great things about the car is that all the upgrades are inside/ underneath the body. Visually apart from sitting a little lower on the Alfaholics suspension, it looks exactly as a standard car, even on the original Turbina wheels.
My ownership
I bought the car in September 2018 from the owner who had all the work done by Alfaholics.
I had recently sold a very historic British AC Ace and was looking for something newer and more usable but with a clear requirement of being a bit special with a great engine and good/fast to drive. Ironically I had previously ruled out a Montreal! But along came this heavily upgraded car worked on by the top UK Alfa specialists. There were only 2 months between selling the AC and buying BBK.
I have used the car as one of 3-4 classic or special ones in my ownership. Initially at least there was some tidying up to do, but more recently it has been mainly routine servicing.
It's a great car to drive and fast for one of 50 yo. It's also a bit of a statement one in the sense of both design and colour. In many ways it has been made into what an original Montreal should have been.
