The 26th edition of MITCAR (Midlands Italian Car Day) will be on Sunday the 20th of September 2026 at Grimsthorpe Castle near Bourne in Lincolnshire.
Gates open at 10am, close at 5pm.
Grimsthorpe is a beautiful backdrop for a car show and has proved very popular for “The Festival of the Unexceptional” over the last five years. Cars attending MITCAR are definitely more exceptional of course!
Now in its 26th year, the popular MITCAR event welcomes all owners of Italian cars and has become a firm autumn favourite. In recent years it has been hosted at a series of stunning venues, including Burghley House, Kedleston Hall, Boughton House, Chatsworth, Arbury Hall, and Ragley Hall.
Over 300 Italian cars are expected again this year. Admission will be by advance ticket only with optional admission to the house available on the day at a special low rate.
Display and Prizes
All Italian cars will be displayed by marque in the attractive area adjacent to the main house. In true MITCAR tradition, dating back to 2001, a selection of prize awards will be presented, with the prestigious Bryan Alexander ‘Camshaft Trophy’—named in honour of MITCAR’s original founder, who sadly passed away in 2019—going to the car of the day as chosen by public vote. Additional awards will be presented by a panel of expert judges, recognising the best‑presented and most fascinating cars, whether for rarity, presentation, overall condition, or fun factor!
Every Italian car present helps make the show—everyone is part of it. All marques are welcome, whether you bring an Alfa, Fiat, Abarth, Lancia, Ferrari, Maserati or Bizzarrini; you’re warmly invited to come along and show it off. All major Italian car clubs are invited but you don’t need to be a club member to take part. There’s no need to book a display spot.
Non‑Italian cars are permitted at MITCAR but will be directed to the public parking area.
Grimsthorpe Castle
Grimsthorpe Castle is a wonderful place to visit, offering a rich blend of history, architecture and natural beauty. Set in the heart of Lincolnshire’s rolling countryside, the castle features striking façades and beautifully preserved interiors filled with tapestries, furniture and artwork that reflect centuries of heritage.
Surrounding the castle are extensive gardens and parkland ideal for leisurely exploration, all included in the MITCAR show admission price. Families can enjoy the adventure playground too. With its combination of historic charm, welcoming grounds and varied attractions, Grimsthorpe Castle makes for a memorable and rewarding day out alongside the wonderful Italian cars on display.
Well‑behaved dogs on leads are welcome. Catering will be available, and picnics are encouraged, but barbecues are not permitted.
