AROC Track Day Donington Park
21 oct
|Nick Wright
April 2025 and 2026, AROC held a exclusive members track days for road legal cars at Castle Combe Circuit (Wiltshire) and the events proved to be a highlight for all those in attendance, with 5-star reviews from most participants after the event.
The mix of track time and social time in the paddock and cafe proved very popular, as well as the respect, track etiquette and the expert tuition on offer out on the circuit.
We had a wide range of Alfa Romeo models and eras represented, and a very strong uptake from novice drivers with 25% of attendees on their first ever track day, and 60% with less than five track days prior to the event. Over 75% of attendees reported that the day was the best AROC event of the year so far for them, with track time judged to be just right except for the most experienced track participants. Excellent value for money was reported by 90% of participants, with the remaining 10% reporting good value.
The following safety aspects all proved to be crucial to the enjoyability of the event compared to non-club, open to the public, track days:
- The drivers all care about their cars
- Much fewer cars are on track at one time
- Cars are separated in groups according to power/weight/driver experience
- No race cars are testing with road cars
- A much better overtaking etiquette – by invitation only
- Drive as fast or slow as you feel comfortable, it doesn’t matter if you want to bumble round and enjoy the view, or experiment with on-throttle mid-corner turning (although drifting is not allowed!)
On an AROC members track day we have the track and facilities to ourselves for the whole day, to share the joy of driving Alfa Romeos of all eras, in the paddocks and restaurants as much as out on track. Additionally, our Club days are organised directly with the circuits, so the AROC members only track day ticket price works out cheaper!
If this thought is appealing to you, then we ask that you book a place on the track days we are organising.
In 2026 have booked Donington Park, Wednesday 21st October 2026 for £200 per car/driver
Additional drivers are £20, passengers are free but will need to attend the safety briefing. Everyone attending must be over 16 years old and minors (16,17 years old) must be accompanied by an adult. No dogs are allowed on site, except assistance dogs.
Noise restrictions at Donington Park- 98dB (Donington is drive by only, no static tests). All standard road cars will be fine for noise but please check your noise levels if bringing non-standard vehicles as vehicles exceeding the noise limits will NOT be allowed on track.
Cars must be MOT compliant and roadworthy but there is no scrutineering, with drive by monitoring on track.
All drivers will need to have a full UK driving licence.
Track prepared cars are allowed, but no slick tyres. Vehicles must be under 1.85m so the Stelvio, Tonale and Junior are all good to go.
Spiders are ok, roof up or down, drivers will need to have arms and legs covered and side windows up.
Please bring a crash helmet (passengers and drivers), but helmets will be available for hire on the day.
We will split cars into groups based on performance and driver experience. Groups will be decided nearer the event based on participants. Track time will be sessioned in the morning, 15 minutes per session in 5 groups, moving to open pit lane in the afternoon from 3pm.
Space is limited to 100 cars at Donington Park.
Tickets are non-refundable, but if in time your plans change, and another member can be found to take up your place, we will be able to refund the costs for a small administrative fee.
Please, if you are unable to obtain a ticket in the first instance, put your name down on the waiting list, as we found that last year many members who initially could not obtain tickets were subsequently offered them.
Remaining places are available now
More complete information will be sent to all ticket holders closer to the events.
With thanks to Jon Core Court and Simon Novis for organising and running this event
