Annual Wessex Treasure Hunt 16th May 10
Nigel writes:-
Hi Alfisti, The Treasure Hunt proved to be a good fun and a challenge last Sunday afternoon. The crews were treated to some fabulous East Dorset country side and passed through some lovely villages including Sturminster Marshall, Shapwick, Horton. It was great to see new ‘treasure hunters’ and also see our good friends Tony & Trina Horrocks (past winners) from the north of the county. A new departure this year included gathering answer in Wimborne St Giles which included a stop for Tea & Cakes in the village hall, all home made by the families of the girl guides. The iced Carrot cake I had was to ‘die for’ and the tea refreshed the brain for the 2nd half.
It finished in the lovely village of Cranborne where Graham & Jacky Wood worked hard in compiling and announcing the results over pints of beer.
Results as follows:-
Tony & Trina Horrocks – Winner with 95 points and reclaiming the Trophy the had previous donated for this event. An amazing 95 points out of a possible 103 ! Wow…
The Bridesmaids(!!) – again 75 points ( Nigel, Denise & Marcus 4th time runners up ! hence the team name)
Steve Knight + friend – 71 points
Mark & Diane Hudson – 71 points
Geoff & Olivia Scutt- 70 points
Dave & Gail Perkins- 59 points (winners of the attractive italian decorated wooden spoon)
Woody & Sharon Woodcock – DNF
An excellent event with a good turnout, here's to many more in the year!!
A big thank you to Steve & Dee Oxlade who planned, organised and set the clues for the Treasure Hunt. Unfortunately they couldn’t be present to see what a success it was. Thanks to Graham & Jacky for the running of the event.
Look out for a full report in the Club magazine.
