Alfa Romeo Junior marks major production milestone
The Alfa Romeo Junior has reached another important milestone, with the 500,000th B-SUV to roll off the production line at Stellantis’ Tychy plant in Poland being an Alfa Romeo Junior Sport Speciale.
The landmark vehicle, finished in Rosso Brera with a black roof, is a 145hp Junior Ibrida Q4. While the occasion marks a manufacturing achievement for the Tychy factory, it also reflects the increasingly important role the Junior is playing in Alfa Romeo’s resurgence.
The Tychy plant has become one of Stellantis’ key European production facilities for compact SUVs. Alongside the Alfa Romeo Junior, it also builds the Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600, with combined production of the three models now surpassing half a million vehicles. Since opening in the 1970s, the factory has produced more than 11 million vehicles, making it one of the group’s most established manufacturing sites.
For Alfa Romeo enthusiasts, however, the real story is what the milestone says about the Junior itself.

When it was launched, the Junior represented one of the most significant model introductions in Alfa Romeo’s recent history. Entering the highly competitive B-SUV segment was always going to be crucial for the brand, giving Alfa Romeo the opportunity to attract new customers while complementing the larger Tonale, Giulia and Stelvio models.
The signs so far are encouraging. Alfa Romeo says the Junior is now available in more than 40 markets and has generated strong demand across Europe. While many buyers are new to the marque, the model has also proved popular with existing Alfa Romeo owners looking for a practical everyday car that still delivers the styling and driving character expected of the badge.
The Junior range has continued to expand since its launch. Customers can now choose between fully electric and hybrid powertrains, including the 156hp Junior Elettrica, the high-performance 280hp Junior Elettrica Veloce, and the 145hp Junior Ibrida, available in both front-wheel drive and the new Q4 all-wheel-drive configuration. The Sport Speciale trim, which combines enhanced equipment with distinctive styling details, is offered across both electric and hybrid versions.
The milestone car itself is a Junior Ibrida Q4 Sport Speciale, a model that demonstrates how Alfa Romeo is broadening the Junior range beyond its original launch models. The addition of all-wheel drive provides greater versatility while maintaining the compact dimensions that have helped make the Junior attractive to buyers across Europe.

The production milestone was celebrated by employees at the Tychy plant, recognising the collective achievement of reaching half a million B-SUVs built. For Alfa Romeo, however, the significance extends beyond a single production number. Every successful Junior delivered strengthens the brand’s position in one of Europe’s largest market segments and provides a solid foundation for future investment and model development.
For those who care about Alfa Romeo’s long-term future, that may be the most important milestone of all. The Junior is proving that the marque can compete successfully in a fiercely contested sector while introducing a new generation of drivers to the Alfa Romeo brand. If its current momentum continues, the Junior could become one of the company’s most significant success stories of recent years.
