Busy Weekend – Part 1 – Simply Italian, Beaulieu
Simply Italian at Beaulieu is becoming a staple of the Wessex calendar but this year was postponed by the organisers from it’s usual date in April to Saturday, July 20th. This was due to waterlogged grounds at Beaulieu and, while the revised date made for warmer weather, it fell on the day before another Wessex fixture, the Sherborne Classics and Supercars Show, making for a busy weekend for many Wessex members. Similar to the previous two years, we organised an AROC club stand at Beaulieu which attracted nearly 60 beautiful Alfas, of which around half were Wessex member’s cars with the other half being the cars of members from the Goodwood, Central Sussex, Thames Valley, Somerset and West Wilts Sections. Despite it being July, the weather proved rather grey with the threat of rain. However, the rain held off until around 3 p.m. so, for the great majority of the time, the show was dry.
In addition to our club area, there were plenty of other Alfas parked around the show together with loads of other interesting cars from the other Italian marques. Beyond all the Italian cars, there were the usual attractions of the Beaulieu site including the House, Abbey ruins, Garden, Monorail and, oh yes, the National Motor Museum. This year, due to the July date, we had the addition of the annual Beaulieu Fete which was being held down by the house.
Overall, a great day. There are plenty of other photos on the Wessex and main AROC Facebook pages.
