Southern Alfa Day

Wessex
21 September 2020

The first major AROC event of 2020 finally took place at Stoner Park near Henley-on-Thames on September 19th and was well attended by Wessex members who brought along a wide range of Alfa Romeos, both classic and modern.  A number of us met up at Rownhams services and travelled together in convoy which was great fun with a total of 10 Alfas strung out in a line going up the M3.   Things got a little fraught going around Reading as we got split up by the traffic lights but no one got lost and we all arrived at Stoner Park close to opening time.   What a beautiful location set in rolling parkland on the edge of the Chilterns !  The weather was warm and sunny and all of the convoy particpants plus many other Wessex members had a great day enjoying the sunshine, admiring the cars and, perhaps best of all, having the chance to mingle socially distanced with friends within the Alfa community again.

We welcomed a number of members new to the Wessex Section who joined the convoy, specifically Tony Abbott in his 156, Bernie and Janet Teather in their 916 Spider and Stuart Jenkins in his 4C.  Also, thank you to Stephen and Ruth Paddock for leading and navigating the convoy around Reading without losing anyone !

I could post a few pictures of the many cars here but it is best to just link to David Faithful, Alex Black and Andi Bray’s huge photo gallery on the AROC website here :
