November 2025 Meeting

Wessex
7 November 2025

Our November event was our first pub-based meeting of the winter. My thanks to John Parr who hosted the meeting and he writes….

In attendance were Sue and John Lapham, Timo Allison, Bill Baker, James Peel, Nick Schon, Ray Storey (and Doug), and myself.  This was Nick’s first AROC meeting.  He said that he had toured Italy this year in his Duetto and had included a visit to the museum at Arese.  He has submitted to the magazine an article describing his travels.  He has owned several Alfa Romeos, and his main interest is in cars of the 1960s/1970s.  Nick is intending to visit the Classic Car show at the NEC this week-end (07-09 Nov).

Memories of the late Dave Shead were exchanged including the occasion when his Mazda MX5 was stolen in London.  It was recovered by the police who warned him that it had been vandalized, whereupon Dave assured them that it always looked like that  .  .  .  The fate of his 2600 was the subject of some speculation.

I confirmed that Stephen would be emailing details of the function at Lovitaly on 10th December shortly with the injunction to act swiftly in order to reserve places.

The email dated 31st October from Sarah Smith at The Army Flying Museum was discussed.  Not everyone was keen to go to Wallop Wheels and Wings again, although there was general agreement that the airshow last July had been memorably spectacular
