Italian sporting car manufacturer, Alfa Romeo, has just recorded the largest percentage sales increase for the key month of March, defying the trend in a UK market 7.8 per cent down on March 2010.

According to March 2011 new registration statistics from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, Alfa Romeo has recorded a positive percentage change in its new car sales – a 66.35% increase – higher than any other manufacturer for the month.

The Italian sporting marque has also enjoyed a buoyant start to the year, finishing the first quarter as one of the top two automotive manufacturers in terms of percentage sales increase with a 60.4 per cent increase on 2010, year to date.

Since 2009, Alfa Romeo sales have been boosted by the introduction of the stylish compact B segment Alfa MiTo, and from late 2010 it was joined by the sporty hatchback C segment Alfa Giulietta, which provides both private and fleet buyers with a complete package – class leading Euro NCAP safety credentials, award winning engine technology, coupé looks with five door practicality, competitive finance offers, and as would be expected from Alfa Romeo, an unrivalled driver experience.
