Report: Ripon Classic Car Gathering

The ever-popular Ripon Classic Car Gathering presented by The Ripon Old Cars Club, has been running for many years and has become established on the calendar. As per usual, we took part in this year’s event which I’m afraid turned out to be a complete and utter washout! This was a great shame for the organisers and indeed for us as a Section as we had near enough a full house of exhibitors on our stand who all got absolutely drenched for their troubles!

Overall, there were a commendable amount of cars and trade stands in attendance despite the appalling weather although the numbers were clearly down on previous years. And that wasn’t the only consequence of the inclement weather. I’m afraid that our Section’s gazebo completely collapsed due to the wind and the rain; the frame being reduced to a pile of scrap metal and the canvas ending up being blown far, far away! It was last spotted somewhere near Harrogate…

At least the bacon butties were up to their usual standard though and we’ll be back next year to support this well-organised event, which benefits Charity, for certain.
