Peak Alfa Drive to The Great British Car Journey
Derbyshire 3 April 2022

A great day to meet up with pals in Derbyshire, West Mids and North West Section converging on the excellent relatively new attraction north of Derby called The Great British Car Journey.
Just over 40 cars from East Midlands, Derbyshire and West Midlands met at the Denby Pottery Village for the start. We had a great collection of Alfas arrive, Classic and Modern, from Bertone Coupes to Stelvio Quadrifoglios as you can see in the pictures.
The navigational guides were very nicely produced by route designer Adrian Richardson who’d devised the Derbyshire Tour, a nice figure of 8 taking in some wonderful roads and scenery. It was 60 miles, and took about 2 hours to complete, the cars converging on the new museum where we were met by a dozen cars from the North West Section who’d taken their own scenic route over.
The museum is full of wonders – from the earliest cars through to a McLaren Supercar, by way of some great British vehicles, many effectively forgotten! It was particularly fun to see well preserved Fords, Vauxhalls and BL cars from the 70’s and 80’s that you just don’t see any more. The venue also allows you to pay to drive some of these around the large site if you fancy.
A big thank you again toe Paul and Adrian for setting this up, it was a really enjoyable day – and as ever thanks to so many in our region for joining in. John
