Alfa Romeo Owners Club 2009 Concours d'Elegance Competition

Sponsored by Shop4Parts

The Alfa Romeo Owners Club Events Team is pleased to confirm, in keeping with tradition, the return of the official AROC Concours d'Elegance Competition as part of the day's activities at Newby Hall for 2009.

As in previous years, entrance to the Concours Competition will primarily be by means of pre-booking, although a limited number of cars may be accepted on the day. Pre-booking however is preferred as this will reduce the amount of work required on the day of the show and allow the appropriate Class judge to be found in advance (especially if your Alfa Romeo is a rare or unusual model).

The proposed Classes, formulated after careful scrutiny of our entries over the last few years, are categorised below. If you would like to enter a car that doesn't fall into one of these categories, please let us know. We will then be able to get your vehicle accommodated. The proposed Classes are:

Class 1.1: Modern Alfa Romeo models - 33, 75, 90, 145, 146, 155, 164.

Class 1.2: Modern Alfa Romeo models - 147, 156, 166, GTV, Spider etc up to 2005

Class 2: 116 Series Cars: Alfetta GT, GTV & GTV6 Coupes, Alfetta & Giulia Saloons, Alfa 6 & Alfa 90.

Class 3: 105 Series Cars: Giulia Saloons, 1750/2000 Berlinas.

Class 4: 105 Series Cars: Giulia GT & GTV Coupes (Bertone Coupes).

Class 5: 105/115 Series Cars: Spiders up to S4

Class 6: Montreal.

Class 7: Alfasud - all versions including later Sprints.

Class 8: 2000/2600 Series

Class 9: Zagatos

Class 10: Nearly New - Cars registered between March 2005 and March 2007.

Class 11: Best Kept Alfa - Everyday cars completing at least 10 000 miles a year. Note: Must have MOT Certificates or proof to validate mileage and be registered before March 2007).

Class 12: Older Alfa Romeo Models - Pre-1940

There are also a number of additional trophies to be won in this year's standard Competition. The Robert Gharibi Award is presented to the entrant who carried out the most aspects of the restoration work on their car themselves.

The Chris Savill Award goes to this year's best New Entrant, while the Andy Cameron and Malcolm Morris Trophies are up for grabs for owners entering in 105 Series Spiders or Coupes.

Concours d'Elegance Grand Master Title

Entry to this section of the main competition will be by invitation only. (All invitations will be sent out prior to National Alfa Day).

Only cars with a proven Concours track record and pedigree will be eligible for consideration for the Concours Grand Master Title.

It is anticipated that the assessment of these cars will be carried out by multiple judges; all with considerable experience of Alfa Romeo models. The invitational Concours Grand Master Title will be run completely separately from the standard Classes of the main Competition.

If you'd like to enter your car for The AROC National Concours d'Elegance Competition at National Alfa Day or would like further details, please either send a Stamped, Self-Addressed Envelope to Nikki Perry, Arese, 20 Stenning Avenue, Linford, Stanford-le Hope, Essex, SS17 0RP or email to mark_nikkiperry@btinternet.com

Finally, we would like to remind potential competitors that all cars entered at Newby Hall must be driven to the event from their permanent place of storage. Any vehicle found not to have done so and arriving on a trailer will be ineligible for entry in keeping with the spirit of the event.
